The history of the building started in the 15th century when it was first mentioned. In 1458 it consisted of only one fortified tower. In the 16th century another tower and also a residential building were built along with the defensive walls. The complex lost its defensive nature at the end of the 17th century when the walls were demolished. The castle was then turned into a manor.The manor had many owners in the past and right before the start of WW2 it was owned by the Windischgratz family. After the WW2 the building was used as a residential building and was in a very poor state. It was finaly renovated at the beginning of the 21st century and declared a cultural monument. Nowadays there is a small but very nice museum in the complex. You can visit the interior of the manor and see some local products, a black kitchen as well as some historical furniture. The rooms in the manor are very nicely renovated and decorated. In the complex there is also a wedding hall and a hall for some special events. If you are in a hurry it takes only 15-20 minutes to see it all. The staff at the museum is very friendly. I recommend the visit. This is also a very nice place to take some great photos. 👍
