What an amazing Tour and guide. I took amazing pictures and the group was great (5 People). Jan told us interesting things about piran and it’s history and showed us some nice places i wanted to see anyway. And additional I had all the interesting facts about that places! Try it! One and a half or two hours you shouldn’t miss.
Thanks Jan and I’m happy to come once again to join one of the other, new tours you just talked about.

Piran is a lovely town. Jan gave us a wonderful tour of his town that concluded with tasting of some local products. He is very knowledgeable about his town and also passionate about telling the stories. I really enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to anyone visiting Piran.

I have rented a bike. I was given instructions and recommendations for places to visit. Unfortunately, the rented bike broke down during the trip. After a short phone call, a replacement bike was brought to me and I was able to continue my journey.
The bikes are in good condition, I have rented bikes in poor condition before. The contract processing is informal and uncomplicated. The price is fair and can only be paid in cash.

Perfect stroll through the city with fabulous explanations about the history and current developments about the city. Jan also gave us very helpful recommendations for things to do and places to eat all around. We then enjoyed a wonderful sunset with a glass of wine and some cheese, overlooking the Adriatic see. We joined Jan for a very personalised gourmet food walking tour around Piran. The poor weather meant some of his favourite eating places were shut but he took us to some very nice alternative restaurants. We enjoyed learning about the salt production, how local foods were made and about different types of olive oils truffles and wines produced in the region. Jan also gave us some interesting facts about the history of Piran and it’s people. Most of all the food tasting was amazing. Do not eat too much before embarking on this tour as you will be be very well fed and get to enjoy many glasses of wine and some spirits. I particularly enjoyed the sea bass carpaccio, the mussels and the selection of olive oils we got to try. Thank you Jan and all the people you took us to visit. We will return to visit some of the places you recommended.

Jan's food tour through Piran was the perfect thing to end our stay in Slovenia! Jan is so friendly and chatty, and has a deep knowledge of Piran (and Slovenia in general!), it's historical influences, and it's local delicacies. Each stop we made featured a couple of thoughtfully selected dishes that were not only fresh and immensely tasty, but also sourced locally and prepared by experienced and innovative chefs. The tour also included a stop at a traditional salt shop, several places of historical interest around the city, and a shop selling locally produced wines, olive oils, and truffle products. All in all, the food, wines, and other tasty bits and pieces were excellent, and Jan was the perfect guide, thank you Jan!

Jan's tour of Piran was one of the best walking tours I ever experienced. We booked a private tour for the evening of our arrival with a little bit of tasting of local products. We were an hour late because of traffic, but Jan had no problem postponing the tour. He even changed the reservation at a local restaurant he had made beforehand for us.
The tour war great, he showed us all the important parts of Piran and explained all about the history. He even managed to get dolphins into the bay during sunset ;). The tasting at the end was great and really good. We got some really good recommendations for restaurants, cafés and bars.
You can totally feel Jan's passion for Piran! If you think about visiting Piran, start with a tour with Jan. It will not disappoint you!

We went for a superb food walking tour around Piran today and all 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed the entire time. Jan is so charismatic and enthusiastic about what he does and rather than just talking at us he was conversational, it was more like having food with a friend than a tour guide which enhanced the experience. Jan clearly knows his way around the food in Piran as every dish was fantastic and we all left feeling completely full! We tried a variety of dishes including tuna tartare, sea bass carpaccio, octopus, baked sea bass, truffle pasta, and cuttlefish risotto. We also sampled some truffle products, olive oils and wines at GourmIstra shop, and local salt products at Piranske Soline, so we left with some products to fit in our suitcases! But I think it’s really important to highlight that at no point did we feel pressured to make any purchases which is how it can feel with other food tours. Jan spoke passionately about the products however whether or not to buy any was left completely up to us which actually meant we felt more comfortable to browse.
I would recommend this tour to anybody thinking of booking one and when we come back we will book again!
